*A Gosherd is to geese, as a Shepherd is to sheep! Gosherd Valley Cottage is the original homestead on our farm. Built in the 1800's it has been slowly added onto by each owner. It has grown from a one-room log home to a three-bedroom cottage. Beyond the fields of pastured animals is a lake to fish in and paths to hike on. We raise geese, turkeys and chickens with an occasional flock of ducks. We specialize in German Emden geese and start shipping in November for the Winter holidays. Additionally, we have 80 acres of rolling hills, half in pasture and half wooded, for your rambling pleasure. The cottage has been carefully restored and updated to create an authentic, yet comfortable guest house where you can still experience the sights and sounds of a working farm. The interior has been furnished and decorated with an eclectic mix of artwork and antiques that are for sale. So each time your visit, it may be a bit different. We restore and repaint antiques and collectibles, so you never know what will be for sale. The region's local foods are featured. Not only for sale in the cupboards, but also growing in the 1,600 square foot historic German Four Square Garden that is planted yearly with up to 30 varieties of produce. The garden, lake and fresh eggs are available for your cooking pleasure as well. Area farmers and smokehouses are available to visit and purchase from which include strawberry farms, cheese makers, honey producers & roadside farm stands. If local foods are your thing, this is the place to visit. We offer no apologies for weight gain while here. We strongly encourage you to visit the little church picnics, small eateries, food festivals and tour the area farms.
