About Us
Did you know that Ann Arbor is just 30 minutes west of Detroit/Dearborn area, 1 hour south of Frankenmuth and 2 hours southeast of Grand Rapids? The Ann Arbor Area has many farms, gardens, restaurants and markets that all cater to the argi-tourism market! The University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens does quite a bit with offering tours of the various gardens they have including The Great Lakes region, Arid House, Topical House, Warm Temperate House, Miso House (sustainable living), peony garden, perennial garden, herb garden and much more! Ann Arbor is also home to many unique restaurants whom feature the farm to table experience for diners. A local favorite, Zingerman’s, offers a behind the scenes tour where homemade bread, cheese, gelato, pastries and candy are all made fresh daily. A national favorite, Jiffy Mix, also offers behind the scenes factory tours of those delicious little white boxes. As an added bonus you get to take a special gift home with you! Other favorites within the Ann Arbor Area include the Brinery where you learn the basic fermentation techniques and have the opportunity to make kimchi, pickles and sauerkraut! Many of the farms in our area regularly attend our Farmers Market, which has been in operation for more than 90 years! The Market is held just a few blocks from downtown Ann Arbor, in our historic district of Kerrytown. The Market is held every Saturday year-round and Wednesday’s from May-December. Feel free to contact the Ann Arbor Area Convention and Visitors Bureau to find out more about our area and what we offer!
