About Us
OCTOBER 1st-31th 9AM-6PM Bear Creek Pumpkin Patch is named for the original plot planted in 1996 on South Bear Creek Drive, east of Merced, California. Shortly thereafter, it was moved to its current site near Plainsburg Road and Baxters Avenue, just a few miles from Le Grand. When the idea of the pumpkin patch was first dreamed up by co-founders Stephanie Marchini and Jeanne Giampaoli, it was envisioned as a place for school children to enjoy an outdoor agricultural learning experience. They anticipated teaching 500 school-age visitors that first October and ended up with nearly 2000. Since then, thousands of school children have toured the patch, learning how pumpkins grow from seed to harvest, and learning about the native Miwuk and Yokut Indians that once lived nearby. And thousands more of everyday visitors have been to the Bear Creek Pumpkin Patch to enjoy this unique and beautiful country setting with a wide offering of pumpkins, Indian corn, squash, gourds, wheat stalks and more Whether you’re a Central Valley neighbor or a traveler in the neighborhood, it’s easy to find Bear Creek Pumpkin Patch at the Fox Creek Ranch. Just follow the hand-painted signs when you’re nearby. You are welcome to stop by and experience our unique pumpkin patch any time during the month of October. Enjoy a break from your travels or a respite from your hectic day.
