Big Timber Alpacas has risen to prominence with a dedicated passion for producing quality alpacas. Recently, Big Timber was recognized as the top Suri Fleece Producer by AOA for medium-sized farms, showcasing their excellence in fleece quality and breeding practices. Our alpaca breeding program is marked by a dedication to genetics, ensuring that our herd consistently ranks high in EPD fleece trait rankings. This accolade stands testament to our efforts in genetic development and excellence.

We proudly shear our alpacas yearly, offering an array of fiber products such as yarns and roving, which are featured in our Big Timber Weaving Studio. Our commitment is not only to producing premier seed stock with outstanding conformation and fiber qualities but also to ensuring good temperament in our animals. Our foundation herd is largely ranked in the top 1-5% for EPDs, both in light and dark fiber categories.

In 2024, we embarked on an exciting partnership with Gerald and Colette Peterson of Feather and Fur Ranch, amplifying our genetic resources and expertise. Together, we aspire to push Suri and Huacaya genetics further than ever before. We also take pride in our alpacas' performance in national shows, consistently bringing home championships and awards.

Sue, one of our owners, actively contributes to the alpaca community as a leader and organizer, serving in various industry roles such as President of the Suri Network. She continues to volunteer on several industry committees, contributing her expertise to help drive industry advancements.

Our community involvement extends beyond raising animals; we're treasured members of numerous alpaca organizations, including the Alpaca Owners Association and the Suri Network, reflecting our devotion to this vibrant industry.
