Blue Skies Farm

Blue Skies Farm has been devoted to growing produce without chemical use since its inception in 1991. Our journey began with a commitment to organic practices, which we continued diligently until 2007. Although we stepped away from official organic certification due to administrative burdens, our dedication to using organic methods remains steadfast.

We offer four major product lines: greens, tomatoes, raspberries, and ginger. Early spring is marked by asparagus and greens, followed closely by root vegetables like beets and carrots. As summer approaches, our Mediterranean line, including garlic, onions, a wide array of tomatoes, beans, squash, and herbs, comes into play. Our raspberries and apples are harvested as summer turns to autumn, and tropical ginger and turmeric are available starting in September.

Our farm greatly benefits from natural fertilizers, primarily composed of composted horse and llama manure sourced from our neighbors. To maintain soil fertility, we also employ green manure during the winter and integrate composted leaves into the soil. For additional nitrogen, alfalfa meal or blood meal is used.
