About Us
In an effort to preserve the agricultural heritage of the Yakima Valley and Central Washington, the late Ted Falk first introduced the idea of a farm equipment museum to a small group of interested people in November 1978. The next year the Central Washington Agricultural Museum was founded on March 15, 1979, as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization governed by a Board of Directors with a volunteer staff. The large task of collecting and restoring antique farm machines and tools has been the passion of these farmers for all these years. They have painstakingly restored their father’s, grandfather’s and great grandfather’s equipment.Displays include turn of the century tractors, thrashers and sorters, the Magness Room displaying over 3,000 antique hand tools and a steam engine used to power the Old Naches sawmill. Visitors will also find collection of bells from the valley schools, an early working sawmill, and the home of the first tractor developed to work in orchards, the Lindeman Tractor. All of this and much more has combined to create the Central Washington Agricultural Museum, the largest outdoor museum in the Pacific Northwest. The museum is staffed by an all volunteer workforce of knowledgeable and friendly people who restore the equipment on display and create active demonstrations of how the equipment was used. Call for event times or to arrange a special showing.
