About Us
Davenport Winery began its journey in 1961 when C.W. and Mary Davenport purchased the farm and started cultivating peaches and apples. Their grandson, Greg Shipe, later took over the family operations. In 1990, inspired by his wife Charlee Glinka's sentiment about the beauty of grapes, Greg began planting them. Today, the vineyard boasts 13 grape varieties spread across 24 acres, alongside 5 acres of apple orchards.
Initially, Greg and Charlee's winemaking began as a hobby. They turned their passion into a professional endeavor in August 1997. At Davenport Winery, we create over 40 varieties of wines, all sold directly from the farm. Our offerings cater to diverse tastes, with a range of reds, blushes, whites, and both sweet and dry options. Our wines are crafted from grapes that thrive in the region's unique climate, fostering a distinct local wine identity.
