About Us
Lambtown is a one day festival celebrating the wool and lamb industries. Come learn about fiber and sheep (or fiber animal) husbandry. Classes, competitions, wool show and sale, fiber and craft vendors, live entertainment, cooking demonstrations. At this festival you can participate in many activities that shepards do every day in producing the wool that goes into your sweaters or other clothing, or the lamb that ends up on your table. The fiber fair features a wool show and sale, where fleeces are judged for suitability for spinning, and then can be purchased. A sheep to shawl competition features teams of 7 participants who must shear a sheep, then sort, card, spin and weave a shawl (70" X 30") in just 4.5 hours. Children can try out their future rodeo skills in a Mutton Bustin' competition, or participants can learn to handle and shear sheep. Fiber enthusiasts can compete in the skeins and garments competition, or learn new spinning, dyeing, weaving, or knitting techniques in one of over 25 classes and workshops. Learn to prepare lamb dishes from chefs from the most trendy restaurants, or sample lamb from the many participants in the ever popular Lamb Barbecue Cook-off. There are activities for kids and adults, and live entertainment all day, as well as over 140 craft, fiber and food booths where you can purchase all kinds of wares in the lamb theme. Lambtown is held on the last Saturday in July(except for leap year when it moves forward one week), at the Dixon May Fair Grounds at 655 So. 1st Street in Dixon, CA. This is 30 miles west of Sacramento, or 65 miles east of San Francisco on Interstate 80. So. 1st Street is also State Route 113.
