Duarte's Tavern

Duarte's Tavern has been a cherished establishment since 1894, known for its warm welcome to friends and guests. Our location in Pescadero beautifully combines history with local charm. While we were originally established as a saloon and barbershop, we've grown immensely to include a restaurant offering country-style American cuisine, spiced with Portuguese influences. We focus on simplicity, letting the quality of our locally sourced ingredients, particularly our local fish and homegrown vegetables, shine through. Our drinks menu features wine selections from the Santa Cruz mountains along with our famed Bloody Mary.

Our dedication to the community is evident as the fourth generation of the Duarte family continues to run the establishment. We remain a local destination even today, crafting the first cups of coffee for local farmers. Many of our staff have been with us for years, becoming a part of both our family and the broader community. Our vegetable garden, tended by dedicated gardeners, supplies fresh produce echoing Frank Duarte's original crops.

Our historical richness is not to be overlooked. From Emma Duarte's baking legacy, established in the 1930s, to Ron Duarte's renowned artichoke soup, we keep culinary traditions alive. Visitors can glimpse Frank Duarte's original tavern bar, a survivor of a devastating fire in the late 1920s, symbolizing our resilience. Although we don't produce our whiskey anymore, we proudly hold a rare Californian off-sale license for restaurants.
