About Us
Good Shepherd Alpaca Sanctuary is dedicated to creating a tranquil farming setting that introduces individuals facing job and life challenges to the prospects of farming and livestock production as viable career paths. We provide skill-building and job training opportunities to these individuals, helping them discover new pathways through hands-on experiences.
We collaborate with various groups to facilitate this mission. Ventura College Vet Tech Program brings instructors and students to learn necessary skills for large animal veterinary work, such as handling alpacas and performing medical tasks. Similarly, the Ventura County 4H Alpaca Project builds confidence and skills in young people through interactions with alpacas at home and in shows.
Valor Healing Farms sponsors military veterans pursuing livestock careers, offering them a therapeutic environment alongside alpacas while assisting in daily farm duties. This setting aims to bring peace amidst life's chaos. Visitors often remark on the unique sense of peace alpacas provide.
Our belief in the therapeutic power of farming is supported by science, demonstrating how activities like spinning and knitting engage the brain, boosting intelligence and well-being. Heart Math studies highlight the positive vibrational frequencies between humans and alpacas, further supporting the peaceful connection felt here.
We continually seek innovative ways to meet the needs of our visitors through various programs, emphasizing that farming and fiber arts can be both therapeutic and practical career choices. We believe interaction with alpacas nurtures the human spirit and soul, promoting a holistic approach to well-being.
