Hillcrest Ranch in Sunol is an island of 137 olive trees in the middle of 2,000 trees in Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park. The trees, of Picholine, Mission and Manzanillo varieties, are dry-land farmed using organic farming methods. Hillcrest Ranch Sunol LLC offers open house events every other month. Visitors are welcome to hike up to the ranch or take a shuttle to enjoy: olive oil tasting, olive oil small mill demonstrations, soap making demonstrations, olive brining classes, sampling of baked goods made with EVOO, and a self-guided tour of the historic ranch. Open House events will be held on the following Saturdays: April 21st June 16th August 18th October 20th November 10th & 17th December 1st & 8th If hiking: Access Hillcrest Ranch Sunol LLC by parking at the Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park Staging area on Foothill Road between Sunol and Pleasanton. Hike up the Woodland Trail or Oak Tree Trail to the cattle gate. Go left after the cattle gate and take trail up the hill to Hillcrest Ranch Sunol. If taking the shuttle: Park at the Sunol Train Station and wait for shuttle to arrive on scheduled open house days.
