About Us

The Kelseyville Pear Festival began on October 16, 1993, with a modest gathering organized by the Kelseyville Business Association. The inaugural event featured a collection of street vendors, a barbeque event, a scarecrow contest, and a solitary stage for musical acts, drawing approximately 1,500 attendees. Since then, the festival has grown significantly, now traditionally taking place on the last Saturday of September. Today, the event showcases three stages for musicians and dancers, more than 100 craft and food vendors, and an array of special exhibits throughout the town. Each year, nearly 10,000 visitors come to enjoy the festivities.

The festival's aim is to highlight the rich agricultural heritage of the Kelseyville and Big Valley regions, offering visitors the opportunity to purchase hand-crafted items from various vendors. Additionally, local shopkeepers make efforts to enhance their storefronts for the occasion. Our volunteer festival committee works diligently to expand the agricultural exhibits, holding a Tractor and Engine Show, fine art displays, and dedicated children's areas. The Pear Pavilion features a historical display of Kelseyville farming, pioneer families, and other unique events.

Collaborating with local organizations like the Kelseyville Business Association, Lake County Horse Council, Ely Stage Stop, and Lake County Quilt Trail, the festival creates a community-focused and enjoyable event. These partnerships reinforce the small-town charm and create a strong sense of community.
