About Us
At Kroschel Wildlife Center, located just 28 miles north of Haines, Alaska, we immerse our guests in a distinctive and educational wildlife experience. Known for being 'more than a zoo', our center offers an encounter with Alaskan wildlife unlike any other. Nestled in the breathtaking wilderness, we provide educational moments that reveal the wonders of the animal realm. Steve Kroschel, the owner and host, is dedicated to fostering a connection between visitors and the majestic creatures we care for.
Our mission is to instill an educational moment that captivates visitors, using live Alaskan wildlife to inspire and educate. The personal tours we conduct allow guests to interact closely with over 15 species of incredible creatures, such as grizzly bears, wolves, lynxes, moose, and snowy owls, all under the care of Steve Kroschel and his dedicated team.
More than simply observing, visitors can engage with the animals in an intimate, guided setting, accompanied by informative guidance and beautiful photographic opportunities. Our trails are designed for easy walking, ensuring comfort and accessibility for people of all ages. In addition to the wildlife encounters, we offer a unique shopping experience in our gift shop, featuring locally crafted Alaskan items that capture the spirit of this extraordinary experience.
Our center has consistently been rated as one of the best wildlife excursions, often described as 'a life-changing experience' or the 'highlight of many trips.' We have garnered top ratings, and our tours remain a top choice among visitors and cruise lines alike. Steve Kroschel's wildlife films and work with animals have reached tens of millions, testifying to the profound impact of our wildlife center.
