About Us
Welcome to Lake Talquin Fishing Guides, where we are dedicated to providing you with an exceptional fishing experience. We strive to equip you with the right tools, information, and expertise for an unforgettable fishing trip on Lake Talquin. Our lake is diverse, hosting species from Black Bass to Redear Sunfish, all year round thanks to Florida's mild winters. Whether you're a beginner, bringing your family, or are seasoned in fishing, our expert guides ensure a memorable outing.
Conveniently situated just 10 miles west of Tallahassee, Lake Talquin was formed in 1927 following the construction of the Jackson Bluff Dam. Its depths, ranging from 15 to 40 feet, provide a unique habitat for a variety of wildlife. While the lake's depths are impressive, we advise against swimming due to the muddy banks and the presence of alligators, turtles, and snakes. However, there are ample public boat ramps, fishing piers, and camps for easy access and enjoyment.
Fishing at Lake Talquin can be an enjoyable activity for everyone. There are over 70 miles of shoreline for shore fishing, or you can take to the waters by boat, which is preferred by many. Florida's FWC supports the Striper population with regular stocking, making the months of February to April ideal for Striper fishing. Even in the cooler months, you can find success fishing in deeper waters with the right lures.
Experienced and novice anglers alike can target trophy Crappie in the lake's deep channels, though summertime presents its own challenges. For bream enthusiasts, shoreline fishing in summer can yield good results. Largemouth Bass enthusiasts are recommended to use diving crankbaits to target deeper waters for a potential catch.
Our guides are seasoned anglers who have spent many years mastering the waters of Lake Talquin. Regardless of your experience level or familiarity with the area, our guides are here to make your fishing dreams a reality. Don't wait—book your trip with us today and start your journey towards catching that prize fish.
