About Us
Touch a soft gentle alpaca, gaze into their big dark eyes and adorable faces, listen to their calm hum and let yourself fall in love with these wonderful animals. Visitors to Lippencott Alpacas, the first alpaca farm in Greene County, PA south of Pittsburgh, will discover the reason that alpaca fiber is so popular and raising alpacas is an amazing career. Visitors will be fascinated when they see, touch and feed some alpacas. It is amusing to learn about some unique alpaca characteristics. We also welcome visitors to our farm store that features a variety of alpaca products such as sweaters, scarves, hats, gloves, throws, blankets, stuffed bears and alpacas. We have lovely alpaca yarn from America and Peru also. Our most popular item is the Extreme Alpaca Socks that many hunters and outside enthusiasts prefer over wool to keep their feet warm. Our latest product is a roll-up alpaca stadium seat guaranteed to keep any "seat" warm at those cold games. It contains some of our own fiber! Visitors will view our knitting machine that will make our very own extreme knitted hats. Some will be dyed "hunter orange" for sportsmen. We will be the first in the industry to offer such a great alpaca product! Our second annual "Open House" is Sept. 27-28 from 1:00-5:00. It is also the National Alpaca Farm Days. Guests will experience a variety of activities. A local hand spinner will delight viewers with her skill at her spinning wheel. She will display and sell her hand-made clothing. An outside theater will feature a show about raising alpacas as a career. There will be some children's activities that will delight kids of all ages. We will also have an alpaca product raffle! Of course, the main stars of the day will be our 25 alpacas. There will be a continuous discussion and viewing of these cautious but curious animals. A seminar for people who may want to raise alpacas will be offered in October. Don't forget to sign up. There will be plenty of field parking and the area will be handicapped accessible including restrooms. Light snacks and drinks will be available. Bring your cameras!
