About Us
Welcome to Little Avalon Farm, nestled in the beautiful landscapes of Washington state, where we proudly raise ADGA registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats, alongside our devoted livestock guardian dogs. Since 2008, we've been nurturing dairy goats for our family's milk needs and simply because we adore these fascinating creatures. In 2010, we acquired our first registered Nigerian Dwarf, and soon our passion blossomed. Today, our farm is home to around a dozen does, complemented by their ever-watchful livestock guardians.
Our farm in Addy, WA, is a dream realized, surrounded by lush bottomlands and rolling hills providing ample natural grazing for our herd. We, Rob, Megan, and our four children, embrace this vibrant farm life. Rob not only volunteers as an EMT/firefighter but also runs his own handyman business. Megan is a powerhouse, managing a mineral business, a goat care website, and a thriving Facebook community, all while caring for our goats and children. We aspire to share our journey and knowledge, providing others with the necessary resources to raise their goats in a holistic and healthy manner.
The foundation of our herd management lies in sustainable, holistic practices. Our goats serve as both treasured companions and a resource for emergency food storage on the hoof. We shun conventional treatments, opting instead for natural approaches in caring for our herd. The goats enjoy a diet of unsprayed hay and whole grains, supplemented by grazing during the growing season. We selectively breed for goats known for their nurturing capabilities, resilient feet, and adaptability to our approach. Above all, ease of hand milking is pivotal, with conformation a close second. Our goals are ambitious, but we're constantly gratified by the outcomes we achieve.
Through our website, we share comprehensive details on each of our goats to give visitors a sense of our breeding program's scope. We warmly invite any inquiries through our contact form or welcome general discourse about goats, one of our favorite topics. Additionally, we share insights on various goat health, care, and business subjects via a blog. Feel free to explore our online presence, follow our updates on Facebook, and join our inclusive discussions within our Facebook group, The Holistic Goat.
