Mitchell's Nursery & Greenhouse

Mitchell's Nursery & Greenhouse marked a significant year in 2024, celebrating 45 years with a substantial expansion. Our state-of-the-art garden center in the Piedmont Triad has opened 18,432 square feet of greenhouse and retail space, including environmentally controlled greenhouses and retail areas. This reveals our dedication to providing the highest quality plants, shrubs, and trees.

Founded in 1979 by Judy and Jim Mitchell in King, North Carolina, Mitchell's Nursery & Greenhouse emerged from their passion for horticulture. As graduates of North Carolina State University with degrees in this field, the Mitchells combined their academic knowledge and practical experience to create a thriving business centered on quality and care. Judy holds the distinction of being a Certified Plant Professional, emphasizing her commitment to horticultural excellence.

In 1993, we expanded to Dalton Road, adding our first greenhouse in 1996. By 2001, Jay, their son, joined with experience from a major greenhouse operation. Presently, Mitchell's comprises 17 greenhouse bays, with energy-efficient, gutter-connected structures featuring drip irrigation and space-maximizing benches.

In 2008, we advanced further by installing an energy curtain to boost heat conservation. Recently, we acquired more land for new tree and shrub beds, ensuring optimal growth before plants reach our customers.
