About Us
Norskedalen, which translates to 'Norwegian Valley,' is a unique nature and heritage center located around Coon Valley in southwest Wisconsin. Our mission is to protect, interpret, and share the natural surroundings and the cultural heritage of the area. We provide a wide range of opportunities to discover the region's natural beauty, historical significance, and cultural traditions.
Visitors are welcome to explore the breathtaking landscapes of the coulee region. Our facilities offer insights into the lives of past generations and the perseverance of Norwegian heritage through our preserved buildings and artifacts. Norskedalen holds something special and distinctive for everyone.
Admission is set at $10 for those aged 12 and above, $5 for kids between 4 and 11, and a family package of $25 for a household of up to five. Seniors aged 65 and older, as well as veterans and active military personnel with ID, receive a discount price of $6.
Our hours of operation vary with the seasons; from May to October, we are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the months of November to April, we open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the same hours on Sunday. However, weather and events may affect these times, so we advise visitors to call ahead to confirm scheduling before their visit.
All guests and members are required to check in at the Thrune Visitor’s Center before enjoying the grounds, ensuring a safe and enjoyable visit for everyone.
