About Us
Pollinate Minnesota is deeply involved in advocating for the welfare of pollinators and educating people on the issue. Situated in Minnesota, our organization faces firsthand the annual struggle beekeepers endure, losing nearly half of their hives due to various threats like toxic pesticides, lack of flowers, and the spread of disease. The challenges to our 400 species of wild bees highlight the critical need for change.
Beyond merely surviving, bees serve as vital contributors to pollinating plants that yield nutritious foods, such as fruits, nuts, and vegetables. We at Pollinate Minnesota leverage honey bees in our education efforts, providing immersive classes where live bees play a central role in teaching about ecosystems and food sustainability.
The organization is committed not only to teach but also to mobilize and drive policy change. We aim to enhance the legislative environment, ensuring the safety of our bees and the sustainability of our ecosystem. We cherish the bees not only for their labor but for the essential role they play in the interdependence of life on our planet.
Pollinator decline is a widespread issue across the state, affecting every aspect of life. We strive to connect beekeepers, educators, and advocates, cultivating communities that support pollinators' welfare and emphasize that individuals—including city officials and county representatives—must come together for impactful changes.
By educating the public and working with state legislatures, we push for the necessary policy reforms while relying on the passion and leadership of people across Minnesota. Support from everyone, including former state officials, strengthens our mission to achieve a bee-friendly state.
