About Us
Rancho Alamogordo, nestled just northwest of Elizabeth, Colorado, offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Since 2004, we have specialized in the cultivation of Huacaya alpacas on our 14-acre property, maintaining a close-knit herd of around 30 alpacas. These endearing animals, often cherished for their teddy-bear appearance, are not only easy on the landscape but also consume less hay compared to horses. They provide us with exquisite fleece during the shearing season, and can be a cornerstone of a new business through breeding, selling, or boarding opportunities.
Our dedication to nurturing these gentle creatures is evident in the way we interact with them daily. We focus on personalized care, ensuring each alpaca receives the appropriate nutrition and care. Additionally, we offer a unique service to new alpaca owners, allowing them to board their livestock here while they prepare their own facilities. This arrangement affords them the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in alpaca handling, feeding, and showing, all under our expert guidance.
Annually, our farm welcomes newborn crias, which we lovingly raise until they are ready to join new families as trained adults. While here, they participate in shows, acquiring skills necessary for competitive alpaca events. Our involvement with the Alpaca Breeders of the Rockies and participation in the Great Western Alpaca Show, along with other regional events, allows us to showcase our alpacas and share our expertise with fellow breeders.
Positioned conveniently between Parker and Elizabeth, our farm is easy to access from Denver, making it an ideal destination for anyone wishing to experience alpacas up close. We invite you to visit and interact with our delightful alpacas, a visit you'll surely find rewarding.
