About Us
An ellusive group of undiscovered trails pass through the Central United States and intersect here in Ellsworth County , all carried trevous, horse drawn wagons, and riders to the Banks of the the Smoky Hill River. The Pawnee and the Kaw Indian Trails, The Old Road to Santa Fe, The Central Overland Route accross the Kansas Plains, The Military Trail from Fort Riley to all Indian Wars Forts in the west, The Smoky Hill Trail and the Butterfield Overland Express provided the shortest route accross the Continental United States during the 1800's. Trains still us the tracks of the First Cross Continental Railroad which followed the old trail that intersect here at this crossroads in time. Only the Butes of the Smoky Hills remain to tell the tale. From their amazing vistas you can still see the ruts of the old wagon trails. The Sandstone ridges of the Smoky Hills are carved with the names of those that have traveled this way. Back in the 1800's explorers, surveyers and pioneers were brought out here by guides and interpreters. You can bring your own horse or we can furnish one for you. Our guides will show you the way. If you don't want to ride a horse maybe a hayrack ride or a guided bus tour will do you right. There's plenty of hiking and exploring to do, so call us to schedule a stay. Come for a day, a weekend or as long as you like, there's lodging availible too. Don't worry about food we can even cook a steak or two, maybe even a pit barbeque. Rancho Milagro is located in Central Kansas about 30 miles west of Salina off of Senic Old Forty Highway. You'll pass through Historic Brookville and the Goast town of Carnerro. Call us at 785-472-4666 or 785-472-7020 and we'll meet you or check out our map on our website.
