About Us
The Rocking 7 Ranch is a historic 160-acre property located in the picturesque Diablo Mountain range of Southern Monterey County. Owned by Howard Strohn, an 8th generation rancher, and his wife Minnie, the homestead has a rich history spanning over 120 years. Here, visitors can explore one of Monterey's largest local history libraries, along with an impressive collection of original artifacts.
Our ranch features a secluded yet well-equipped campsite, complete with a BBQ pit, tables, an outdoor shower, a worktop, and a sink with running water. For those requiring additional facilities, we also offer an area with full electrical hookups.
Within the comfortable homestead, we provide Bed and Breakfast facilities alongside a plethora of information about Monterey County's fascinating past. Guests can engage in various activities, including enjoying traditional horseshoe pits, a basketball hoop, and a badminton court. Wildlife viewing, hiking through local wildflower meadows, rock and fossil hunting, and relaxing under the shelter of an ancient Oak tree add to the experience.
The ranch is home to a diverse range of free-range animals, including Alpaca, Peacocks, African Pygmy Goats, Indian Runner Ducks, Burros, Chickens, Turkeys, Guinea Fowl, Pheasants, Geese, and Horses. Rocking 7 Ranch provides a unique opportunity to experience rural life in this enchanting part of California while being within driving distance of Big Sur, The Pinnacles National Park, and the historic Spanish Missions of San Miguel and San Antonio in Jolon.
