About Us
Welcome to RVP~1875, the premier historical furniture shop and museum located in Jefferson, Iowa. We operate in the century-old Milligan Lumber Grain & Coal building, under the leadership of Robby Pedersen, a Master Furniture Maker with over 28 years of expertise. Robby has created over 1300 pieces of historically authentic furniture using tools, techniques, and finishes reminiscent of 1875 Iowa.
Our establishment proudly hosts one of the world’s largest collections of 19th Century woodworking tools in operation. Visitors can see an 1860’s foot-powered lathe, an 1870’s hand-crank ripsaw, and an assortment of over 650 hand planes. In our showroom, Robby's prototype furniture is displayed, each piece narrating its own historical significance. He eagerly shares his passion for historic furniture making and its connection to Iowa's history with our guests.
Our dedication has been recognized with numerous accolades, including being named the 2013 Outstanding Tourism Business, the 2015 Outstanding Retail Experience, and winning the 2016 Outstanding Tourism Attractions award from the Iowa Tourism Office and the Travel Federation of Iowa.
We welcome visitors through varied seasonal hours: January through March, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM or by appointment. From April through December, we open from Tuesday to Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM, also accommodating by appointment.
