About Us
Welcome to the San Diego Botanic Garden, a 37-acre sanctuary designed for both relaxation and exploration. Our garden offers 4 miles of trails providing breathtaking ocean views and leading visitors through 29 themed gardens. Boasting over 5,000 plant species, we serve as a living museum of the natural world, representing 15 different regions from all corners of the globe. Here, visitors of all ages can immerse themselves in the beauty and diversity of plants, learn about the ecosystems that sustain them, and perhaps find a renewed appreciation for nature's wonders.
Our garden is more than just a place to visit; it is a resource for learning and inspiration. We provide a range of educational opportunities through our on-site and online classes and programs suited for both children and adults. Whether exploring the largest children's garden on the West Coast, or delving into the diverse bamboo collection, there are countless ways to engage with the environment here.
Our commitment to science and conservation is evident through our projects aimed at preserving threatened plant species and habitats. We collaborate with partners across community, nonprofit, academic, government, and industry sectors, striving to make lasting impacts and address key challenges such as biodiversity loss and climate change.
Embrace the vibrant community aspect of the San Diego Botanic Garden by joining our membership, attending a range of classes, workshops, and exhibitions, or participating in volunteer opportunities. We offer an array of activities designed to enrich understanding and engagement with the natural world.
Come explore what’s in bloom throughout the garden year-long, or partake in special events tailored to highlight seasonal beauty. At the San Diego Botanic Garden, your journey through the wonders of the plant kingdom is just beginning.
