About Us
Welcome to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in the historic town of Weston, West Virginia. This landmark, constructed in the mid-1800s, was a haven for the mentally ill. With its extensive history of 160 years, the asylum holds many compelling tales, including those of Civil War raids, a notable gold robbery, and the believed 'curative' qualities of its architectural features. The efforts of many dedicated individuals have continuously aimed at improving the lives of the mentally ill.
Visit this nationally recognized historical site and experience its lasting influence on both local and national history. Throughout our tour season, we offer various historic and paranormal tours.
