About Us

Arriving at the Vincent Arroyo Family Winery, visitors are greeted by a classic ambiance that suggests the winery has existed for ages. It is the homely sensation evoked by the vast barn filled with oak wine barrels that creates a sense of timelessness. Vincent Arroyo himself, after leaving behind a career in Silicon Valley as a mechanical engineer during the early 70s, found a more authentic connection to nature in Calistoga, at the northern end of Napa Valley. Embracing a new way of life, he cherished the opportunity to witness and savor the fruits of his labor firsthand.

The journey of Vincent Arroyo Family Winery began in 1974 with the acquisition of the 23-acre Greenwood Ranch property. Over the years, the vineyard has expanded to cover 85 acres, nurturing ten distinct wine grape varieties. Vince, at heart a farmer, was committed to nurturing the land to produce optimal quality. His transformation of Greenwood Ranch involved uprooting old prune trees and unhealthy vines to plant vibrant new vineyards. For several years, Vince single-handedly managed the tractor work, cellar duties, and sales, initially producing only a few hundred cases of his preferred wines, Petite Sirah and Cabernet, while selling most of the grape tonnage to other local wineries. Today, the family crafts over 8,000 cases encompassing ten varietals.

Today, Vince's daughter, Adrian, and son-in-law, Matt, have taken the reins of the winery, managing the day-to-day operations. Matt is deeply involved in the cellar, focusing on winemaking, while Adrian oversees daily operations of both the winery and tasting room. Vince remains an influential figure, offering advice and welcoming both new and returning customers.

The Arroyo family's winemaking philosophy emphasizes making the most of their resources. The wines are meticulously crafted from the moment grapes are harvested. Our winemaker, Matt, makes key decisions on vinification processes, including harvest timing, crushing methods, fermentation styles, and the selection of barrel types to maximize the wine's flavors during aging.

The wines produced at Vincent Arroyo Family Winery have turned the winery into a key destination on Napa Valley maps. Our signature wine, Petite Sirah, is so highly sought after that it often sells out before bottling each year. Once tasted, the appeal of these wines is understandable. In addition to Petite Sirah, the winery offers Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, and several intriguing red blends.
