About Us
Located below the Wolf Creek Dam in Jamestown, Kentucky, the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Our facilities include an interactive Visitor/Environmental Education Center, a Hatchery building where visitors can observe fish production, and enjoyable nature trails. At Hatchery Creek, visitors can spend the day fishing or simply enjoying the tranquility of the surrounding wildlife.
Every year, we successfully produce approximately one million trout weighing a combined total of 275,000 pounds. Working in collaboration with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, we stock over 125 public fishing waters throughout Kentucky, contributing more than $50 million annually to the state's economy.
The visitor experience at our facility includes interactive exhibits, viewing of unique karst terrain, and even getting close to an active honeybee hive. Our Education Center allows visitors to meet Dale, a lifelike animatronic fish biologist, and enjoy various other exhibitions. We offer numerous amenities, including a theater, gift shop, picnic areas, and a wheelchair-accessible fishing ramp. Visitors can also camp at the nearby Kendall Campground.
Our gift shop, managed by the Friends of Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery, Inc., features a variety of items such as books, fishing gear, and home decor. Proceeds from the shop support our mission and education initiatives.
The Fish Hatchery also engages in various conservation projects, focusing on the recovery of endangered aquatic species and the stocking of native fish like the Barrens Topminnow and freshwater mussels.
